Extension Cord Managers

Completed by Faith Tarasuk
The Mission: Using wood, create a simple and elegant way to easily store away extension cords without them getting tangled

The Design

The first step in creating the extension cord managers was to make a design. I wanted something that would be easy to wrap and manage the extension cords with, as well as looking good. I looked online and found a couple designs that I liked, and decided to go with something similar to this. It's simple, elegant, and wouldn't be too hard to make.

The Process

After deciding on a design, it was a pretty simple process. I took large planks of recycled wood that were going to be thrown out, and with the help of Matthew, cut them to shap using a scroll saw. After that, I used a router to smooth and round out the edges, and sanded down the surface of the wood to make it smooth. I also drilled a hole into each manager in order to make it easy to hang it up if it was so desired.

The Finished Product

In the end, I created out of wood that was going to be thrown out an easy, and simple way of storing extension cables. It keeps them from getting tangled while also making it easier to store away efficiently.
